The Archive is Alive

FREE/PAY WHAT YOU CAN

The Archive is ALIVE exhibition brings together four projects developed through the inaugural VC Archives Artist-in-Residence program, which invites artists to engage the VC Archives as a site for research, experimentation, and new creative process. The residency emphasizes exploration and working with archival materials to ask new questions, test forms, and imagine new ways of activating history.

How to Summon a Ghost

How to Summon a Ghost is a VR installation that places participants in a courtroom assembled from fragmented archives of the 1871 Los Angeles Chinese Massacre, where they navigate testimony, record, and silence.

Records of Redress

Through archival footage, photos, objects, and recent interviews, this exhibit asks us to reflect on the power of community-based archiving to create, preserve, and share collective memory.
