The iconic Chang Chen stars in LUCKY LU in a quietly devastating performance as a man whose foothold in America is stolen with the theft of his e-bike, his only means of making a living. As the imminent arrival of his wife and daughter looms, he claws through the streets of New York, searching.

In this intimate portrait, director Lloyd Lee Choi renders the immigrant experience with an unflinching, gritty lens. Yet through Chang Chen’s luminous presence, the film captures something more elusive, the rose-colored optimism that compels people to cross oceans in pursuit of a dream, made all the more beautiful against the honest portrayal of what it takes to make the dream come true.
