HONORING OUR QUIET HEROES

Directed by Don Bannai

Japanese American Military Veterans of the Vietnam war period faced a unique and lonely challenge. They returned to their homes amidst the anti-war fervor of the late 1960’s and most veterans were directly advised to not wear their uniforms as they walked out of military bases where they had served for two or more years. Less than 25 years earlier as toddlers or to be born a few years earlier their families were discharged from concentration camps with the same message. This film explores the story of one such vet and family.
