An earnest portrayal of a young man’s coming out, filled with the emotion and angst inherent in the process, Golden Delicious tells the story of high schooler Jake and his obsession with both basketball and the handsome new neighbor, Aleks. Authentically told, Jason Karman’s film is a sincere reminder about the importance of family and community during the highs and lows of growing up. With raw and emotionally honest performances, Golden Delicious is a hopeful, important, and necessary film that shows the beauty and uniqueness of everyone’s journey to adulthood.
