Director Jiayan Jenny Shi’s personal, investigative documentary will hit you in the gut with its intimate access and perspectives on the missing person case of visiting Chinese scholar Yingying Zhang, and her family and friends’ dogged pursuit of justice in the aftermath of her disappearance from the University of Illinois in 2017. The latest project from Kartemquin Films, producer Diane Quon (MINDING THE GAP, LAAPFF 2018) has returned to LAAPFF for this film’s Los Angeles Premiere. — Lindy Leong
