Though heavy in subject, director Eunice Lau deftly tells this heartbreaking story of a family torn apart by radicalism through keeping herself at a distance and allowing the father, Yusuf Abdurahman, and his family to lead the narrative. The family’s bravery and courage are affecting, casting a deeply moving hold over the film. ACCEPT THE CALL is a study in empathy, the nuances of right and wrong, and an insightful, understanding look at the human condition. — Jeremy Aguilera-Gaudette
