Cinematografo’s “Yellow Rose” Debuts at the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival
May 3, 2019
LOS ANGELES — For the 35th year, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival launched this past week.
Getting the party started on the yellow carpet is the much anticipated Cinematografo film, Yellow Rose, starring two former Miss Saigons, and an immigration story that Filipino families can relate to.
Many of Hollywood’s Asian American stars came out to check out the film.
Even kapamilya star KC Concepcion made sure to catch her friend Lea Salonga’s first feature film in over a decade.
The musical drama, written and directed by Diana Paragas and produced by ABS-CBN’s Cinematogrofo, stars Lea Salonga and Eva Noblezada, as well as Princess Punzalan.
While the story centers around an undocumented family, the stars say the themes of migration and family can hit close to home for many viewers.
The world premiere of Yellow Rose at the film festival marks a special milestone for Filipino Americans.
The last Filipino movie to open the LAAPFF was The Debut 18 years ago.
