“Cheung Hing Kee” is a Chinese dessert shop owned by a married couple Cheung Hing and Sau-lin, in Kowloon City in the 1980s. Their daughter Cheung Shing-yip (May) has always dreamt to fly and she became a flight attendant. Younger brother Cheung Kai-cheong is just another carefree university student. A classic Chaozhou family.

Everything changed when Sau-lin got a stroke and was left unconscious, leading the family into a chaos. Unbending as Shing-yip, unbearable to see Cheung Hing taking all on his back, decides to quit her job and return to assistance. Yet, Cheung Hing is a traditional man, he does not appreciate her help. With the absence of Sau-lin, they are clueless on how to communicate with each other.

Kowloon City is undergoing reconstruction and property developers have evicted them. Shing-yip’s Canada born-Chinese boyfriend Kevin proposed to her, offered her to leave Hong Kong and live together abroad in Canada. On the crossroads of Kowloon City, struck with current of time, Shing-yip’s choice and her family’s “Cheung Hing Kee”, what’s their choice?
