Blending together seminal works by Visual Communications founders shaped by the spirit of the UCLA EthnoCommunications program and created alongside the LA Rebellion Film Movement era, this collection features the world premiere 4K restoration of Alan Ohashi’s Kites and Other Tales, a colorful exploration of folklore and the art of kite making; Duane Kubo’s urban city symphony City CityThe Journey, one of VC’s few iconic animated films; and Eddie Wong’s Chinatown 2-Step, a lyrical portrait of the Imperial Dragons Drum and Bugle Corps based in LA Chinatown and an exploration of the rising Chinese American middle class.
