Jonah Yoon is a Korean-American surgical resident driven to fulfill his family’s hopes of becoming a top surgeon. This pursuit pushes him to extreme lengths while training under Dr. Edward Harmon, a renowned heart transplant surgeon whose unpredictable behavior reveals a man who values absolute loyalty and subservience over anything else. The challenges Jonah experiences only escalate as his mother, Minah Yoon, suffers from end-stage renal disease, which causes her health to deteriorate. Ultimately, Jonah is forced to choose between his familial duty or accomplishing the goals his family sacrificed everything for. TRANSPLANT is about the realities of pursuing a calling in medicine and the emotional, psychological, and ethical costs minorities pay when chasing their American dream.
