Director Caylee So returns to the festigval with THE HARVEST; a Hmong-American story starring and written by Doua Moua. As some cultural traditions are becoming a burden of the past, an estranged son returns home to his ailing and traditional Hmong father, only to set off a chain of events that will affect his entire family.
The film follows So’s previous feature IN THE LIFE OF MUSIC; and continues So’s passion for telling stories that resonate with the Southeast Asian American communities. Leading with Moua’s story, we watch an estranged son return home to his ailing and very traditional Hmong father -only to set off a chain of events that will affect his entire family. Patient visual storytelling and powerful performances make this family feel like home.
Director So, recipient of the Linda Mabalot’s New Directors/New Visions Award, and film team will be in attendance.
