The fall of Saigon in 1975 and Kabul in 2021 have resulted in the displacement of millions of families, forcing them to flee their homes in search of refuge. “Refuge After War,” directed by Thanh Tan, offers a poignant and intimate look at the experiences of Vietnamese and Afghan refugees who sought asylum in the United States. Through their stories, the series highlights the power, complexities, and challenges of the refugee experience, and serves as a reminder of America’s ongoing failure to learn from its past mistakes.
