OMOIYARI: A SONG FILM BY KISHI BASHI

Directed by Justin Smith, Kaoru Ishibashi

Filmmakers in attendance. Film program will be followed by Q&A

Combining music with filmmaking, musician Kishi Bashi provides viewers with a unique documentary experience which touches on his own familial history and how it relates to the current immigration issues involving American citizens today. Bashi incorporates his own violin compositions and performances with interviews and archival footage from Japanese-Americans during WWII  to show how history can easily be repeated if we do not reflect on the past.
