A young sansei (third generation Japanese) embarks on a journey in search of her estranged nisei (second generation Japanese) father. She reunites with him after 30 years. Over a period of 4 years, they build a bridge that reconnects them, through exchanging 80 handwritten letters. On his death bed, she finds some resolution in their relationship.
